Madison Grange celebrates 100 years

MADISON TOWNSHIP - Years ago, many Licking County residents had two options when it came to leisure time.
They could either go to church or get involved with activities at their local Grange Hall, said Mary Jewell, Licking County Grange deputy.
A fraternal organization with options for men, women and children, the Grange was a part of the social fabric of many Ohio communities.
At one time, there was a Grange chapter in every township in Licking County, but now, the Madison Grange is the only one still in existence.
The group celebrated its 100th anniversary last month with a dinner at its Grange Hall on Butler Road, Jewell said.
